Casually Chic Hit List…

About a month ago, I bumped into KB Kasuals vendor booth at Houston's Culture Map Holiday Pop-Up Shop with the finest boutiques and designers in town.

What attracted me to their particular booth was the chic casual separates. And, you know, here at The Haute Report, we love a good Casual Monday (*wink*). So, there I was, looking for pieces that were missing from my wardrobe…

Currently, I'm up for my weekly therapy session (shopping), in need of something casually chic and no time to make an actual store visit, I hopped on their website to see what I'll be bringing home in the days ahead of me…

Tweed Turtleneck

Obsessed with thick sweaters!
Especially, those with either a deep V-neck or a chunky Turtleneck.
Ideal for a breezy day or night…

Twisted Mix Crew Tunic

Casually Chic!
And, can practically go with anything in my closet. Rugged gray affairs, are one of my reasons for living.

Sequin Skirt

A Woman can never have enough black skirts! (It's like an LBD) Right?! I mean, as long as they're not boring…
I don't seem to have enough skirts (shrugs…)
Loving all things Sequin and any skirt or dress with a sexy split ~ belongs in my closet!

Leather Cowl Zip Jacket

Chic zipper jackets always comes in handy for the stylish styles…

Cobain Awesome Baggies

Oh! These babies! So what if I already have a pair (smirk)… If I like a brand, its style, fit and all things above, I'll buy it over and over, and over, again. Just as I do my Levi's…
Seriously, the distressed denim by ONE Teaspoon are my new FAVS!!!

P.S. I've already concocted several casually chic ensembles using just these separates and nothing else.

It all makes sense, stepping up a few basics, has never been so haute…
And, that's how KB Kasuals ended up on our hit list this week…

Would you rock or not???

It's more about the Hat…

Happy, Happy Fab Friday!!!

Today, on The Haute Report, we'll rewind to a few days backs in this knitted cap that I'll probably never get enough of.

Having a bad hair day? Or maybe you just don't feel like getting it together? Or, you're a natural girl haute such as myself and it's wash day?? Or, just a fly girl who likes to keep it haute???

I will always love this rasta style cap that I bought off the corners (at 5:00 in the morning) from a street vendor in New Orleans a couple years back.
The cap was handmade by the vendor himself with rasta life colors, Red, Gold and Green, giving me that ole Bob Marley feeling with Reggae music to my ears.
Besides the colorful life and meaning behind the cap, it's cozy, warm and big enough to cover my untamed afro. LOL!

Rasta Chic!
Knits and cotton can be casually chic.
Simple basics, cotton gray pencil, white v-neck, knitted black cardigan and black booties but it's more about the hat!

The way this hat is set up, I can rock it a million different ways! Don't be surprised if you catch me wearing this cap with a cocktail dress…
LOL!!!

Another thing I'm currently into right now is wearing a belt tied around the waistline, while leaving my cardigans, jackets and coats open,  for a little peek-a-boo and to pull that silhouette in on oversized pieces…

Outfit Details: Pencil Skirt - H&M; Tee - Mossimo (Target); Cardigan - Kenneth Cole; Booties - Altuzarra for Target; Hat - Rasta (street vendor); Cuff - Vendor

Big knitted hats are beyond haute at the moment! Whether you pull an oldie or grab a newbie, it's cold everywhere, and it's more about the hat, keep it chic, fun, cozy, and just wear the hat!

Alexa Chung for AG @ Neiman Marcus

Missing any pieces in your 'dream denim wardrobe'???
Something about the old retro style that you want back?
You love the 60's, 70's, maybe even the 90's but it doesn't show in your wardrobe???

It-Brit and style icon, Alexa Chung, brings us just what we've been missing with her first newly launched collection, Alexa Chung for AG Adriano Goldschmied…

Neiman Marcus Houston Galleria, launches their line of Alexa Chung for AG, Jan. 20th. And, of course, The Haute Report was in store and we definitely approved!

The Denim that's been missing…

Street Style anyone?
When we're talking street style cred, Alexa Chung is no stranger as the 'British It-Girl'.
Model, TV personality, and contributing editor at British Vogue. It's Chungs' distinctive personal style that keeps her on best dressed list and a street style icon.
Often seen on the front row at many Fashion Shows, no wonder Chung is taking her personal style to new heights and collaborating with designers on her own clothing line.

The collection…
Her denim debut collaboration with LA-based denim dynamo brand, AG Jeans (Adriano Goldschmied)!

Alexa's AG collection includes a number of casually chic pieces, priced anywhere from $70 to $300, retro-style mini-skirts, overalls, shorts, pinafore dresses, high-waisted jeans, sweatshirts - all inspired by 60's and 70's aesthetics - she calls, "the missing pieces in my dream denim wardrobe'. Although, I get more of an early 90's vibe (could just be my state and age) but nonetheless, we love some good throwbacks...

Style bloggers are already taking a liking to the new line, especially the J'AI DU VAGUE À L 'AME sweatshirt that's been burning up our social media timelines with sales just beginning Jan. 15th.
Looks like it was more than just Alexa and friends who were missing pieces from their 'dream denim wardrobe', eh???

I've particularly fallen for the Pixie denim dress in Hi White Wonder Red as it jogs back so many memories (we won't go into details. I mean what woman likes to tell her age? LOL!). I'll just say, I recall having a dress such as the Pixie in the classic blue denim.
But the red?!!!
Just lit my fire!

The New Wave sweatshirts also struck us as a favorite!

Don't forget about those high-waisted jeans which are a must have!

If I had to say so, I would say, Chung definitely created the ultimate collection of retro casually-chic separates and denim that we all know and love.
So, it's no surprise that our fabulous Neiman Marcus of Houston Galleria made room for the new line Alexa Chung for AG!

The dream denim wardrobe we've all been missing...

Team Neiman Marcus!!!

Casual Monday's… This Blue Blazer

This Blue Blazer on Casual Monday…

I fell in love with this blue blazer like the day I fell in love with the color blue.

Hanging on the racks at My Nonno Boutique, the only one standing, spoke to my dear heart and said, "Take me! We belong together".

The open cut was clean!
Big square pockets that resembles a lab coat, provided my need to feel originality.
And mesh that rocks the upper-arm sleeves?
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Got it in Cobalt Blue???

Winter whites, creams and this blue blazer…
Keeping it all simply chic with faux-leather leggings, jersey top, cowboy boots and my fringe binge is back!

A blazer that can do all the talking, can stand alone, with your minimalist behavior…

Outfit Details: Blazer - My Nonno Boutique; Shirt - Zara; Faux-Leather Leggings - Express; Boots - Coconuts; Fringe - BCBG; Hair - Wild

Casual gathering with friends for some backyard BBQ…
In this blue blazer???
Casually Chic right on time!…

As the saying goes, "Underdress for a formal event and overdress for a casual event" according to the british streetstyle "it girls"…
But I prefer to keep it Casually Chic at all given times… or something like that…

This Blue Blazer…

The Hunter's Camo in a Trench…

Happy Tuesday Hautees!!!

Game Winner Style…

Last week, I went into this mode of "I need a new Hoodie". It was freezing outside and all I could think of was bundling up.
Anywho, in need of a new hoodie, I took to the hunter's camouflage, instead of my usual Hanes all black hoodie or a GAP hoodie
(I mean, I'm still a Northern Cali Gal, although, I grew up in Houston).

Peek-a-boo!

Goodbye, to the Army Camo and Hello, to the Hunter's Camo!!!
Hunter's may not enjoy their hunting gear turning in to a streetstyle but ummm, you know, it's haute!
I mean, who's not on the hunt? LOL!

Besides, we're just putting a little spin to the type of camo we usually rock.

When it's cold outside, there are ways to stay warm and chic at the same time.
An oversized coat, Trench (in my case), thick sweater, hoodie (in my case), your favorite blue jeans, boots or booties, and maybe, a hat, beanie or beret. Yes, Beret (in my case) because, they're BACK!!!!

The key to keeping all this big stuff looking chic?
The belt tied around the waist!
It brings it all in together, still giving you that lady silhouette when all bundled up during the Winter days.

Add a little spark to it. I chose to mix hunter camouflage with leopard booties and a red beret to spice things up, my way.

Outfit Details: Hoodie - Game Winner; Trench - Thrifted; Denim - Zara; Booties - Michael Kors; Beret - Thrifted; Hair - Hat hair…

I'm in love with my new hoodie that I picked up from Academy Sports for only $14!
In fact, I think I'm sticking to the Hunter's gaming gear this year and see where it goes…

This winter has been freezing cold for a lot of us, I'm sure…
But, can a Lady, stay warm and chic at the same time?
Yes we can!
Just don't get yourself sick trying to be too cute! smirk… LOL!

Golden Globes 2015 Review - Our Top 10 Haute Favs!!!

The Haute Reports' Top 10 Golden Globes 2015 Red Carpet Favs…

Last nights' Red Carpet was exactly what I expected, for the most part. Pastels were on deck. Reds were stunningly on the Red Carpet. Some of our predictions came true! And, we had some unexpected favs that popped up and stole our hearts.

Now, being that I don't actually watch television, I couldn't tell you who won what. But, I know which Gowns won me over. HA!

So, here it goes!

First up, my prediction that this yellow Carolina Herrera Gown SS15 from NYFW would show up on the carpet and, it did!!! On, the beautiful Jenna Dewan-Tatum. So, of course, our prediction is one of our Top 10 Favs!

Next, Melissa McCarthy! I absolutely adore this woman! Especially, on the Red Carpet! I don't have to explain why, do I?? I mean, just look for yourself - she's always glowing STUNNINGLY!!! Knowing how to adorn your shape and keep heads turning, means someone knows their stuff!
Unlike, Mrs. Fashion Police, Giuliana Rancic who had no clue what to do with her shape… (smirk…)

Conchita Wurst! Yes!
The velvet green tuxedo-like Gown -
Fierce! Chic! Haute!
Slayed!!!!

Julianne Moore made my heart beat in this Givenchy Couture! Everything was perfect on her! An unexpected fav that definitely made our Top 10!

Goldan Blue Style!
Come on now, you knew one of those cobalt blue gowns would make our list and Julia Goldani Telles, rocked our favorite shade of blue the best!

Now, our absolute Top 5 favs begins with the star of Annie and the new face of Armani Junior, Quvenzhané Wallis!!! Another one of our predictions! We knew she would show up stunting in Armani, GORGEOUSLY!
Maybe a no brainer, but, hey…

Something told me early on that Rosamund Pike would be one of the best dressed on the Globes Red Carpet but I had no clue what this Classical Doll would wear. However, the all white Vera Wang cut-out Gown that showed a hint of her post-pregnancy tummy - gave me life! Jaw-dropping Beauty!!!!

Another unexpected love affair - Salma Hayek in Alexander McQueen (Goddess Gown, IMO)
Everything about this look screams HOLLYWOOD!!! The hair, accessories, I mean EVERYTHING! Salma, definitely not a stranger to being one of the hautest on the carpet!

Viola Davis in a red Donna Karen Atelier! It's her time! Her year! And it didn't take much of a fashion scholar to know that she would be glowing, gracefully, in a red Gown on the Red Carpet. Red on Red and Viola did just that!

P.S. If the dress had you glowing or you made the dress glow - that's how you made our Top 10 list. Muah!

Last, but definitely, not least, Felicity Jones, the new break-out star (for me) in Christian Dior. Giving my all time love, Lupita Nyong'o a run for her money when she wore that red Ralph Lauren Gown with cape attached, last year. Felicity Jones was my absolute favorite last night, hands down! #MinimalistBehavior at it's finest! Who needs to accessorize with a Gown like that??? Less, was indeed, more!

Now, if only someone could tell me what movies and shows each were nominated for or if they won, that would be nice!
But, then again, it's not like I would watch the shows… (shrugs…)

Our Top 10 favs!!!
Who was yours???

Style Crush of the Week - Vinty Fresh

Happy Friday Hautees!!!

Our first Style Crush of the Year goes to
Thrift Queen, Brittany of reiNvinty.Fresh!!!!

I've been following Brittany on Instagram for quite some time, now, and I'm in love with her love for thriftting and the haute ensembles she creates from her one of kind thift finds.
Always Chic! Original! Fresh to Death! Retro and Fearless!
Everything we Love at The Haute Report!

Catching up with Brittany, Vinty_Fresh, on her style, fashion, the adventures of thrifting and what's next for the Thrift Queen.

Thrifted long Red Peacoat, Levi's, Pointy-toe Booties...

Brittany, gives The Haute Report the scoop on our Style Crush of the Week...

Born and raised in Detroit, but her homebase is now Dallas, TX

Brittany describes her style to us:
I would best describe my style as colorful, fearless, classy, retro and mysterious. My style is just everything that makes me the person I am.

Thrifted she does!

The Inspiration:
I am inspired by everything I see, everything that surrounds me, and everything that I imagine. For example, I can look at a scene in nature and be inspired by the colors and textures that I see. The rustic colors, or the earth tones. I have always seen colors differently.

The thrifter was born:
I started thrifting when I was a kid. I use to go with my mother and grandmother all the time. I didn't really think much of it then, other than I knew I was going to get to choose one item that they would buy for me. It wasn't until I got older that I started appreciating all the awesome things a thrift store could offer. About 4 years ago, I decided to get serious with it and wanted everything I wore to be from a thrift store. To ensure that no one could ever be caught in the same thing as me. It also helped me be able to express my creativity and develop my own style.

Right! Because, no one wants to look like everyone else. Or, maybe, some do, but, nothing says 'Style' like 'originality' does!

FAB Thrift finds by reiNvinty.Fresh

The Go-To when I Go-To:
My go to item when I go thrifting are usually sweaters, shoes and purses. I do go through every section in the store and search through it all but I tend to go to those 3 first before anything. Just a system I have developed, I guess... LOL!

Any favorite fab thrift finds???
Gosh, I have so many things that I consider my best find. But probably the Chanel Bomber Jacket and Chanel Quilted Bookbag purse are my 2 best finds to date!

Thrifted! Head-to-Toe! Literally!

Mix and Match the thrifted or not???
I love to thrift and wear majority of my outfit from the thrift store. But some outfits I do have to mix pieces that I may not have thrifted and I hate to do that... LOL! So,I always try hard not to.

The Fur Coats, though??? Yes! Especially, with this weather! You know we've been all over her site making our wish list! LOL!

Tips for Thrifting???
My advice to someone that wants to start thrifting would be to have patience, know that you don't always come out with something and you don't always have to buy something just because its cheap, play around with different styles and be open to items that may not be in your comfort zone, above all though, HAVE FUN! It's always in adventure!

1980's Vintage Sequin Embellished Cocktail Dress is EVERYTHING!!!!
Bet you won't find it anywhere else!

The Haute Report loves a Chic-a who can beat the streets with her style without breaking the bank and keeping originality ~ original!
And, Brittany does just that for us!!!

The adventures of thrifting...
Thrifting has definitely helped me develop my style and gain confidence with the clothing I wear. It has been my outlet for my creativity and has been able to inspire others through my style. It also helped me create an online store to be able to provide cool vintage pieces to those who may not have the time, patience, or the "eye" to find vintage pieces but still have a love for them.

You can check out the store at http://reinvintyfresh.storenvy.com

Like these Alligator embossed boots made in Italy, that I'm over here dying for! How'd she find these!!!
Brittany, I need these!!! Emailing now! LOL!!!!

We absolutely adore our Style Crush of the Week and can't wait to see the success and style that comes from the launching of reiNvinty.Fresh!!!!

Get ready, Vintage/Thrift Lovers as Brittany brings us thrifting online without driving to 10 different thrift stores looking for that one haute item. Just leave it to reiNvinty.Fresh to do the work for us.
I know, I'll be a regular on reiNvinty.Fresh for fab vintage finds. *wink*wink*

Where can we find more of Vinty Fresh:
You can find me at any thrift store in Dallas! But if you're not in Dallas, you can find me on instagram vinty_fresh and the store instagram page reinvintyfresh

Casual Monday on a Tuesday…

Casual Monday going up on a Tuesday!

Although yesterday was Casual Monday, we're posting it on a Tuesday…

Wide-leg denim, Streetstyle…

Polka dots, kimono, wide-leg denims, sneaks and a short jacket for an eclectic Casual Monday - my way…

A good pair of wide-leg denim can go a long way in your closet whether you're into tanks or tees, blouses or crop tops, sneaks or wedges, platform oxfords or heels - I do them all with my streetstyle…

I love a flare that gives just a peak of the shoe while the rest does the talking…

Outfit Details: Wide-leg denim - 7 for all mankind; Polka dot top - Zara; Kimono - DuO Houston; Jacket - H&M; Sneaks - NIKE Cortez

Feeling playful in a casual ensemble that's fit and flare for the chic.
*wink* wink*

Shopping for the New Year…

The first weekend of 2015!
YAY!!!!

New Year. New You? New Wardrobe?

Any new ideas for Shopping 'N Style?
Plan on going from high to low or low to high? Maybe cut down on impulse buying (something I need to learn)?
More shopping online rather than going to the store?

The Haute Report talks ~ Shopping for the New Year…

It's Saturday, normally, when we're off, we shop. However, it's been ugly raining in the City of Houston where I reside. Sorry folks, these Sunny pics aren't from today (sad face). The pics were chosen to get us in a shopping mood that we can talk about. *wink* wink*

With the New Year, everyone has changes they'd like to make whether it's financial, relationships, personal goals, etc., etc.,
The changes I would like to make are my shopping habits (pouts). Not that I plan to stop shopping (pfffffffffft!) I just need to cut down on impulsive buying…

Here's the deal…
Or, my new rules for shopping. Wait, scratch the part about "rules". What rules? How about, pointers? Here are some pointers I will follow when shopping this year:

1. Continue to buy high and low.
Nothing says 'style' like pairing a $0.25 thrifted top or bottom with those $700 MB heels. Buy low when you need to budget. Buy high when you want it to last. But remember, buying low means buying more and buying high means buying less. Unless that is, you're a thrifty thrifter…

2. Impulsive buying just gets me in trouble with my money… smh…
So, I'm teaching myself something new. How to say, "NO!!" when I see something "cute" without even thinking how my closet may feel about it. Of course, this doesn't apply to shoes. HA!
My goal is to make sure that it makes sense. It has a place to go other than my hangers. You know, that "oh it was cute, so I bought it, that's why it's hanging up in my closet a year later with the price tags". No more "cute" tees or rumbling through the clearance racks when I "only" went to Target for popcorn.
Oh, wait! I just overheard on my intercom that impulse shopping has been approved for dresses and shoes purposes… LOL!

3. Shopping online or fight mall traffic? I'd rather fight traffic to make sure that what I see, like, and want, is what I get. Plus, I like my purchases in hand, same day. Whereas online, will it look the same in person? Will it fit how I want it to? Then, wait however many days just to receive and frown because it's not what you thought it would be. Maybe a size smaller or another size up could have made it haute.
But, if it's cold and rainy outside and prefer to stay in with hot cocoa and fuzzy socks, and, you know the brand, how it treats you, and the price is right, then I'll make an exception. Other than that, I plan on hitting the streets.

There you have it, a few of my shopping policies that I have written down for shopping the New Year #chicstreet style.

Early afternoon, let's go do some smart buying! We still have all day to shop!

#TheHauteReport

Happy New Year!!!!!
