Casual Monday's: Baby Crush

Casual Monday's Baby Crush!!!

Little girls in pretty dresses are cute as a button! But when a Princess is casually dressed in jeans and a blazer - TOO ADORABLE!!!!

Almost too cute to add words!
In fact, I'll just let this sit…

If you're one that follows 'The Haute Report', then you know how much we love our Blazers with jeans - so, of course, the tots get it too!

Plum checkered Blazer, denim top (use to be a dress, now a peplum-like vibe. Yes! I'm obsessed with wearing dresses as tops with my denim), army green jeans with hearts (cuffed at the bottom because we like it like that) and the burgundy ankle boots for a little Princess casual…

The ankle boots are a definite favorite!
Synthetic patent leather stretch ankle boot - not available in my size, so I got them for the tot, and by the looks of her mother's face when I pulled them out - priceless!

Although, when purchased, the boots were a whopping $45.90 from Zara and in less than a week the price has already dropped down to $29.99 (I'm not a fan of missing deals…Thanks Zara! smirk…)

I did say, "too cute to add words" huh? LOL!!!

Outfit Details: Blazer - H&M, Dress/Top - Closet Archives; Heart print jeans - H&M; Ankle Boots - Zara; Hair - Pouf with the wind...

Taking a break from Frozen Princess dresses and going Casually Chic - Goldan Blue Style!

But not without KP the Grunge Princess thinking they were twins with their denim and blazers…

'Tis the Season for His Sweaters!

Wishing everyone Happy Holidays!!!

Usually, I like to play the Grinch for Xmas (shrugs…)
This year, I was actually in the mood to get in the spirit and celebrate… And, of course, that meant a Xmas ensemble for the chica…

Borrowed from the men's section - Fair Aisle sweater that I absolutely adore, so I did it again… HA!

The cozy knit sweater was just my type! Originally, I thought it was ugly when I first purchased it a couple weeks back but I began to see beauty in this timeless old-fashioned thing that my nephew would never wear…

My first time wearing it was to an "Ugly Xmas Sweater" party with a pair of old faded black levi's rolled up above the ankles with the same heels, here, maybe a different twist to it.

The sweater that stands out can be paired with just about anything in your closet - skirts, denim, trousers, dresses, midi-skirts, shorts and plenty more!

'Tis the Season for his Sweaters!

The colors are warm to my liking with different shades of blue and brown (my fav color combo). The sweater was met with a pair of silky blue pants with the illusion of snow-flake like prints to blend this Holiday gear.

Chilly outside but cozy and chic so don't mind the little breeze… And if you were anything like myself, I couldn't stop eating…
So, the pants with the elastic waistband and the big knitted sweater kept your girl looking right on time - for another plate!

Outfit Details: Sweater - GAP; Pants - H&M; Heels - Jessica Simpson; Hair - shrugs…

I'm in absolute love with this sweater!

The cozy, the fair aisle pattern, the color combo, the everything I need to make a sweatshirt a statement piece for the lady who doesn't like a glob of accessories to bring a simple ensemble to chic life!

Slouchy Trio for the Holidays

It's the Holidays!!!!

Time for Holiday travels!
Road Rage Slouch!!!

Now that I've made it to my destination, I'll keep this short and sweet due to waiting to the last minute to hit up my Christmas list (smirk)…

Plan on being stuck in the car for a few hours or more? Let's get comfy!

The baggie boyfriend jeans, button-down top with seat-belt wrinkles (LOL!), socks in my pumps because it's chilly outside and the wool coat to stay warm while driving through Texas with the temperatures changing every 20 minutes…

The Goal: Comfy Chic where I can enjoy my Starbucks Coffee, twinkies, potato chips, Snickers and french fries until I reached the destination of Prime Roast, mashed potatoes and all the veggies I can eat…

Cute and Slouchy all in one!
Sounds like my kind of road trip -
Slouchy Trio..

Outfit Details: Boyfriend Denim - Levi's; Buttown-down Top - Craig Taylor; Socks - Vivek Nagrani; Pumps - Jessica Simpson; Wool Coat - Banana Republic; Hair - Twist - out…

#GiftsThatGiveBack ~ Be The Light with Petra Nemcova

We're talking, Petra Nemcova, Supermodel, Philanthropist, Ambassador at Large and Entrepreneur on The Haute Report's Casual Monday

Petra made a personal appearance at our favorite Neiman Marcus store with Co-Founder/Brand Expert, Christian Hosford and her international luxury home decor brand ~ Be The Light New York, "The World Collection" of luxury scented candles. And, of course, we were there to get the scoop on Petra and her Be The Light New York.
#GiftsThatGiveBack

Before Christian gives us a tour, here's a few reasons why we LOVE Petra…

The Supermodel - We've seen her in many campaigns from La Perla to Cartier, Victoria Secret and many more! Sports Illustrated 50th anniversary edition featured Petra as one of the "legends". We've also seen her on dancing with the stars.

Taking her celebrity to new heights comes Petra the Philanthropist. Founder and Chairman of Happy Hearts Fund (HHF) whose mission is to build schools and restore hope and opportunity in the lives of children after natural resources. With HHF, she's been able to rebuild 95 schools, benefiting more than 46,000 children as well as over 400,000 community members. HHF, currently active in 9 countries - Thailand, Indonesia, Chile, Peru, Mexico, U.S., Haiti, Columbia and Philippines.

"We can't control nature, but we can control the actions we take! - Petra Nemcova

Ambassador at large for Haiti - with a goal to uplift the people of Haiti, she's bringing awareness about Haiti's culture, beauty, it's development and opportunities!
(We Heart Petra!!!!)

The Entrepreneur - inspired by her life of traveling to fascinating countries, BTLNY brings "meaningful treasures from travels" which enrich homes and lives. #GiftsThatGiveBack with 10% from all products supports rebuilding of safe schools through HappyHeartsFund.org

I can go on and on about Petra but let's move on to BTLNY!

Christian begins to give me a tour of "The World Collection" luxury scented candles.

Starting in America with BlueBell Bliss inspired by Blue Bell fields, here, in Texas.
(I take a whiff of the candle… Mmmmm!...)
BlueBell is the symbol of "Gratitude", he explains, another way to say, "Thank You". A great gift for when you need to say, "Thank You". Consider the American BlueBell, he adds.

Stressed or a long day? Christian says, "consider the Indonesia Patchouli Peace - using a lot of patchouli - inspired by the "peacefulness" of a lifestyle and a part of the world. Great to take a bath with!"

Are you in the holiday mood?
Of course! It's the Holidays!!!
Consider the Czech Holiday Cookie. Now, this is all about togetherness of family, Christian explains. Inspired by traditions of the Czech Republuc - that familes come together for the Holidays and make cookies. And, it's the actual scent of the cookies.
(Mmmm… it really does. I'm hungry…)

We're heading off to Spain - Spanish Saffron Heat - he ask that I count to 5 while taking in the scent because there's an after kick to it - starts off subtle, then comes on strong. Uses Saffron which only two candles in the world use it. Saffron also known as an aphrodisiac which brings us to "Passion" - you want it slow… So, it's designed to have multiple levels of intensity, whereas other candles have a nice, clean, even burn.

CH: Now, do you like chocolate?

GB: Pffffffffft! I'm actually more than heavily addicted to chocolate! (Chuckles…)

Christian adds, well, you may enjoy this - Mexican Cacao Mystique - inspired by the Mayan Culture who drink a spicy Cacao (hot chocolate) at the end of day to celebrate.
"Celebration of Life"
(Of course! I'm in love! DUHHHH!!!)

Last on our journey is the Haitian Hisbiscus Breeze ~ "Beauty & Strength" - inspired by the Hibiscus flower in Haiti and strength.

CH: Which of these were your favorite?

GB: I enjoyed the Peacefulness, Celebration of Life and the Beauty & Strength also stuck with me.

Here am I with the oh so beautiful, Petra Nemcova! Just as she is in pictures, magazines and T.V - beautiful! In person, STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS!!!
(Should have worn my red lips! We could of been twins that day… HA!)

While standing around taking pics of Petra in action, a light bulb came on and said, "Tis the Season to give #giftsthatgiveback", so, I hopped in line to make my purchase…

The artwork on the casing is custom and it's printed on 3 sides of each jar. Hand-drawn by Christian himself, a 5-day process due to the jar being a big intra glass, you'll have to use a diamond to get it off, making each of the jars it's own little many treasure!

When the candle burns out, the jar is a definite keeper!
If you hold it to the light, it's translucent. When the wax burns, it gives off a great array of color.

LOVE IT!!!

A luxury candle experience that's special and meaningful!
When purchasing a gift for someone, you want them to know that you put thought into it, you want them to remember that thoughtfulness and enjoy it - CH

In the mood for giving so I'm giving and giving back at the same time (smiles…)

Yesssss! It has arrived!
Personally signed by Petra for one of my best girlfriends as a house-warming gift since she just purchased her very first home!
I told her she drives me insane and not to ask for any more house-warming gifts! LOL!

All in all, I felt extremely awesome with my purchase, helping to build schools! The peacefulness I get when sniffing the scent of this luxury candle, almost makes me not want to give it up! Thinking… Thinking…

Be The Light!!!

Freshly Distressed One by Teaspoon…

Freshly Distressed…

On the Go last week, I bumped into Culture Map's Holiday Pop-Up Shop at Silver Street Studios with some of Houston's finest Boutiques, Local Designers and many more. While browsing the Warehouse, I met KB Kasuals and the jeans to die for!
The Haute Report introduces our new Fab Find ~ One by Teaspoon Cobaine Awesome Baggies…

The jeans were love at 1st sight!
Feeling like I'd already reached my spending limit for the week - there was no way I was leaving without! But, I'll just suck it up and go on a budget for the remainder of the week... Pfffffft!!!

Distressed to the max with a perfect slouch off the hips! Cuff or no cuff!

The jeans are an Australian brand that rides on "Fantastically Rebellious, Sex-Infused, Old-School and Rock N Roll Glamour"...
KB Kasuals just happens to be the only Boutique in Houston carrying the jeans. And, I hear, "Good Luck" on trying to purchase them online… HA!

Blouses and baggie jeans are always HAUTE! At least in my book (shrugs…), paired with a pointy pump, definitely, my kind of Chic Street Haute!!!!

Rocking my new favorite jeans with an Altuzarra for Target Orchid print satin shirt and BCBG suede pumps that I picked up from DSWshoes on my way to the shoot (originally wearing a coral pair of lace up ballerina Oxfords, until my short person complex kicked in… HA!)

Outfit Details: Denim - ONE by Teaspoon; Oxford Shirt - Altuzarra for Target; Pumps - BCBG Paris Jaze Suede; Hair - Afro life!

All in All, a great weekend look! Or any day of the week for that matter...
Keeping it Chic Street!
Cobaine Awesome Baggies stands as a statement piece with it's Sex-Infused appeal!
Don't be surprised if you see me wearing the baggies quite frequently as we're a perfect match for one another! (I mean that's the whole point of buying $150 pair of jeans, so you can wear them over and over again as you please and still look good...) *wink*wink*

Freshly Distressed ~ ONE!!!!

Casual Monday's: Pajama Top, Jeans and Pumps

Okay, so maybe this was on Sunday but it's Casual Monday and I'm rolling with it…
Just like I did when I rolled out of bed yesterday morning to meet a girlfriend for breakfast and grabbed a pair of boyfriend jeans, my pajama top and pumps. Oh, and the trench as it was kind of chilly out.

And it didn't stop at breakfast, as I spent the entire day, shopping, hanging and prancing around as chic as I could be in my jammies…

The look came as a lazy moment to get dressed as quick as possible. LOL!
No more rules in fashion, you wear what you want and how you want.
It's all in the presentation.

But to run out the house with a pajama top paired with your jeans and pumps!?
Someone, means serious business when it comes to style.

Those days I longed for where I can wear my pajamas as an ensemble has arrived!
Would I wear a complete set, out and about? Depending on the fabric, design and shoe, I most likely would… However, house shoes? NEVER!!!!

Silk camisoles, chic jammies whether tops or bottoms or both, slip dresses and anything sexy can be layered under some of your fall/winter sweaters and coats.
I mean, you don't want to go overboard to where you literally look like you just walked out of bed though.

The boyfriend jeans are a to-do in my closet when wearing a pajama top on the go!
Perfect slouch and fit to set things off.

What I love most about this look is the mix/matching of the highs and lows.
For instance, the trench coat and pajama top were thrifted for only $0.25 each. My love for Levi's jeans will never end (as you can see in many of my outfit details). Then, my favorite pointed Decollette Louboutins in black patent.

You couldn't tell me anything! LOL! I knew I was haute ssssshhhhh…. LOL!!!!

Outfit Details: Trench - Thrifted, Pajama top - PINK (thrifted), Boyfriend jeans - Levi's (of course), Pumps - Decollette Louboutins, Hair - Bedhead Fro…

Are you rocking your jammies????

What to Wear…

To be Casually Chic on a Fall Night…
Or any night for that matter…

Gray dress, multi-color scarf that compliments the dress, hair wild, bag and boots went hand-n-hand which turned out to be perfect in Houston's bi-polar weather.

The dress I adore… From the fabric to the design. Almost a classic demure like vibe but with more of a chic twist. Thick like cotton and polyester woven together as if it were tweed. Keyhole neck-tie and the sleeves brought more character to my liking.

Outfit Details: Dress & Bag - Zara, Scarf - H&M, Boots - Ciao Bella

All in all, it was a great dress for a Fall Night in Houston with no jacket needed! Of course, you can always throw in some tights for more warmth. And, no scarf? Well, try a pair of gloves instead.

The point is to take a basic dress and give it some life with your Fall essentials!

Katie Design Jewelry Ignites the Soul

About a week ago, I had the luxury of meeting and chatting it up with the wonderful Katie Scott of Katie by Design at our favorite Neiman Marcus, here in Houston, as she recently launched her Katie Design Jewelry collection, November 2014 at select Neiman Marcus stores and online.

Katie Scott, Houston-based, Interior Designer, branded Katie by Design in '05, creating interiors that were "defined, not designed". In '08, hunting for religious medals in her hometown of New Orleans, Katie, adorned with her hot pink Hermes cuff-link, came across vintage religious pieces that she placed over her cuff - and instantly, a new spark in Katie which brings us to Katie Design Jewelry, today.

The Haute Report gets a little scoop about the collection from Katie herself…

Interchangeable Alligator Cuffs

Katie starts off by explaining what it meant for her to launch her jewelry line and the spiritual connection behind it all. How placing the charms over her cuff link that day was such a divine moment as it sparked more creativity in her life.

KS: You know this was back in '08 when the economy was terrible - you know no one is really buying anything, I thought, "OMG" this would be the worse business idea but I kept praying about it so much because I was like, "is this distraction or direction?" and I was really praying for direction and it had a great increase in my spiritual life.

Display at Neiman Marcus of Katie Design Trunk Show

GB: I know that you branded Katie by Design with your home decor interior designs and your crossover to jewelry was when you placed those pieces over your Hermes cuff. So, now that you've launched it, how do you feel about it? Is there a warm feeling inside?

KS: It is! Kind of all surreal. I can't believe it all happened. I think that's another thing, being able to create something that's so tangible, something you've had so many dreams of. But you dream it! You believe it!

Katie gets a little choked up as she goes on to say, "Whenever I have doubts, I remind myself that these things did not happen without reason, purpose, no matter what my human doubts are. Faith is stronger than doubts, so I run with faith".

KS: First day seeing my jewelry here, was an out of body experience. Looking at the designers that surround me, John Hardy, David Yurman and Armenta. Like, OMG! I'm in the same presence with them. So, that was a real exciting moment. No reward without sacrifice though. With 4 kids, still doing interior design, writing a book and launching the jewelry collection.

GB: Oh! So, you're Super Woman!

KS: (Chuckles) Sometimes I surprise myself and I don't know how I'm doing this but more than the challenging days, are the good days. I practice balance, meditate every morning - meditation is my medication. My husband Stanton is the force behind me. One could be creative all day but without having someone on the business side of it, I probably wouldn't be here today.

GB: Oh, so that would be Stanton who said, "make sure you cut her off after 20 minutes, she's a talker"?

KS: Yes! (LOL!) Totally! (more chuckles) He's my manager.

Katie Design rings include crosses, rosary rings with diamonds, Starburst with Sapphires, Modern Mary and many more

GB: Now that you do have your hands in both, interior design and launching this beautiful jewelry collection that you have, is there one that you enjoy more than the other? Or are you passionate about them both? Even grounds maybe...

KS: Different Love. The difference being the meaning behind them. The jewelry is my passion because it's my spiritual life that really pushed this. Looking for more spiritual pieces, that's what drove me to the jewelry. Design is my passion so the combination is unbelievable. Interior design, I'm also passionate about. Yet, at the same time, it's kind of in a different way. With interior design, I'm creating someones dream in their home. Some want peaceful and serene. Some want energized and to be colorful, more fun and dramatic - like a counter balance to what their emotions are actually feeling. Interior design is very natural to me, it's a gift with ease. Whereas the jewelry makes me think - like we've got to explore this when I want something to look a certain way and they're telling me the science behind the medal and the certain engineering purposes that won't work and I'm like, "NO! It has to work!" Different reasons behind it all and I love it all. I would never want to give up one.

GB: Gotcha!

Interchangeable alligator cuffs and cuffs with saintly studs

We then chatter about wanting to diversify oneself for a brief moment. I'm caught up in Katie's positive vibes by this time and really enjoying her as a person, as she was so easy to talk with and uplifting.

GB: Gotta get out that comfort zone!

KS: Every time I get comfortable, it means it's time to grow.

GB: You started with making spiritual pieces, but now you've made your way over to making statement pieces as well, such as your Starburst collection. How did that come about? Because not everyone is spiritual but may still love the line? You know, that 'Katie gives us something too,' voice?

KS: Yes. Good point and question. But yes, one thing I learned, I met with a jeweler very early on when first starting this and he said, "you can't reach everyone. Diversify yourself. Do the things that have meaning and do some other things". I'm always trying to find meaning in everything. Starburst, for me, its significance came in time - feel like GOD is an aura of light. It was like seeing this big burst, a ray of light. Meaningful but doesn't have to be meaningful for everyone else.

We chuckle more and chatted about sacrifices. We even talked about my sacrifice of sleep (LOL!) being that it was the week of Fashion Houston - where working my full time job and blogging left me absolutely no time to think... (I work 12 hour shifts... enough about me)

Starburst Collection

GB: You're from New Orleans but you're Houston-based. It must mean a lot to have your line launched here at Neiman Marcus in Houston, although, it's not your hometown, it's home base.

KS: Houston has been so good to me... Always loved it here!

GB: You and I both!

KS: If I had to be anywhere, Houston is it! Friendly, diverse, feeds my fashion, design and the resources. Houston has been the source of all my resources.

Modern Mary ring with diamond bezel and Hamsa charm

GB: You juggle amazingly with both of your designs, interior and jewelry, I'm sure you travel a lot and have 4 kids, two of them you say are toddlers?

KS: Yes.

GB: Geesh! So, I guess asking if you're looking to adopt any adult children would be out of the question, right!?!

KS: (Burst into laughter) Exactly! (we chuckle more) You know, I could use another adult around. You will definitely be in consideration, for sure!

GB: Do you have a favorite piece here?

KS: I sure do! Let me show you. Body Armor is my favorite because of its significant meaning to me....

"With spiritual medals decorating and adjustable Alligator cuff worn for safe travels and protection, these decorated attachments are removable and offer versatility by simply changing the color of the alligator cuff or by applying a different design".

We then move on to viewing the collection in store as I'm super excited about seeing the Katie Design Jewelry line.

Katie's favorite - The Body Armor Cuff

The ultimate Body Armor fashioned with a modern edge. St. Christopher partners with Jesus and the Virgin Mary for protection and safe travels. The featured cuff has an attachment in ebonized sterling silver on a genuine alligator cuff in black. The cuff measures 1-5/8" and is pliable, adjusting and conforming to your wrist size.

Of course, Katie wears the jewelry from her collection as you can see in the above picture of her uniquely crafted rings which are chic & edgy with a spiritual touch.

By now, you should know that it's not a Haute Report interview without a selfie! HA!

I enjoyed every bit of Katie and her jewelry collection!
What I love the most is the versatility in her alligator cuffs, how everything had a meaning behind it. Whether you're spiritual or not - her collection will wow you with unique pieces! So much to choose from! Seeking spiritual or statement pieces that can ignite some soul into your jewelry box?
Katie Design fills that void.

I'm one who isn't always very big on accessories or jewelry as I tend to forget where I put them unless it has a sentimental value (smirk...) However, I definitely see myself going back, scoping out which pieces I want to add on my wish list. Who am I kidding? I already know what pieces have spoken to me, so my wish list has already been completed. HA!

Katie Design Jewelry - Ignites the Soul!
