Gobble! Gobble with Style!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Ready for some family fun in Fall cottons…

Cool, breezy and sunny - my kind of day. Trench coat, sweater dress, pencil skirt and sling-back booties.
Choosing mustard/camel/cognac colors that are a perfect blend for my Turkey Day.

I've been a little obsessed with wearing dresses as tops with my skirts and pants, lately. Today, I decided to wear my sweater dress over my pencil skirt, leaving only a peak of my skirt for a quick colorblock scheme.

In this scenario, my trench, which I scored for only $0.25 is the statement here!

Cotton fabrics that have some stretch to it was more than ideal for the day I plan on having with family.
To eat comfortably without popping any buttons or playing with zippers… HA!

And, if I begin to show a little kangaroo pouch, I'll just throw on my trench and uhhh… LOL!

Outfit Details: Sweater Dress - American Apparel, Pencil Skirt - Forever21, Trench Coat - thrifted, Booties - Zara, Hair - Twist -Fro

As much as I would love to sit and chat longer because I know we've missed each other this last week but I'm off to good eats, drinks, laughs and sleep with the fam… *wink* wink*

Hope everyone is enjoying their day!!!

Thanksgiving - No Open Doors!!!

The Haute Report has hopped on the bandwagon of 'No Open Doors on Thanksgiving!

Although we're huge shoppers, our family actually means more than rumbling with someone over a sweater for only 15% off.

I'm glad to see some of my favorite stores stand their ground and saying "No Open Doors on Thanksgiving"!

Most retailers are blaming their "Open Doors on Thanksgiving" on consumers, saying, "it's what our consumers want". Hmmm… Probably consumers that don't work in the retail industry, eh? But has our society really got to a point where we no longer appreciate traditional holidays with our family and friends?

I for one will not shop this Thanksgiving. Black Friday? I'll probably pass on that, too. I'm not keen to the headache of large crowds, playing tug-a-war over items. Yes! I love awesome deals! But it's not worth the hour-long looking for parking or carefully watching my feet as I walk to avoid others from stepping all over or running over my shoes. HA!

While there are more than a handful of stores that will be closed for Thanksgiving… Here are some of our favorites where doors will be closed!

1. T.J. Maxx

2. Marshalls

3. DSW Shoes

4. Nordstroms
5. Neiman Marcus

The Haute Report are not very huge fans of online shopping either (we like our purchases in hand). But something tells me, if there's a deal that we just can't live without and it's available online, we'll probably bite our tongues about the "but I don't like online shopping" and do some online shopping… smh… LOL!!!

My double whammy, not only am I a shopaholic/wardrobe stylist, I also have a career in Information Technology. Which pretty much means, I don't deserve Holidays. Take off from one and the other is still in high demand. Wish someone would protest for the people of I.T. But NO!!!!!

Why would anyone want to spend a full day with family and friends and no shopping or technology??? Pffffffft!!!!

It wasn't too long ago when people weren't forced to be away from their families on Holidays just so we can shop. Simon Malls are even rumored to fine stores up to $1,100 an hour for being closed on Thanksgiving. WOW!
We lived with stores being closed on Thanksgiving before, we can do it now! Or am I telling my age?…

And if your doors must be open… Rather than making it mandatory, how about voluntary for those who don't mind….

Just my thoughts!

The Holidays are near!!!

I think I'd rather spend my time tellling jokes and eating Turkey legs vs. waiting in line for hours… (shrugs…)

L'Atelier de Givenchy at Neiman Marcus Houston

I'm sure we all know what Haute Couture looks like, right? For the most part…
Have you ever wondered, what scents are adorned with those Couture looks?

No more wrecking your brain!
Neiman Marcus Houston, welcomes their new Givenchy Beauty Boutique!!

The House of Givenchy brings us just what we've been looking for!
Fragrance & Couture in unison with the unveiling of L'Atelier de Givency!

Haute Couture Parfumerie collection that's inspired by the excellence and know-how of its creators - Hubert de Givenchy yesterday, Riccardo Tisci today. Seven luxury fragrances, exclusively available at Neiman Marcus.
The first collection of L'Atelier de Givenchy

The Haute Report goes on a Beauty Tour with Ildiko Juhasz - Givenchy Director of Training and Jessica Barlow - Givenchy Director of Communications to get the scoop.

"Because fragrance, like fashion, envelops the body and exposes the soul; as a gown emphasizes movement, a scented wake magnifies a person's allure."

Seven fragrances designed for both men and women who can choose the scent of their own personal style with this olfactory wardrobe of Couture Perfumerie.

A sneak-peek of the Givency Beauty Boutique.

Ildiko and I begin chatting about our fabulous unique names that she and I have. We chuckle over our names for a moment as Jessica joins us. Of course, I'm a sucker for love and all things beautiful, so it didn't take much for me to be smittened by the new boutique. I found myself clinging to the L'Atelier de Givenchy Collection, falling in love with the Couture inspired fragrances.

The Givenchy Beauty Boutique in Neiman Marcus Houston is the only one of its kind in the world that has this selection of products curated in the same room. Le Soin Noir skincare, Noir Couture make-up and the exclusive seven fragrances of L'Atelier de Givenchy

What really makes this line of fragrance extremely unique and special is the availability. Carefully selected 22 points of distribution around the world and of the 22 only 2 within the U.S.

Although we're totally captivated by the unique fragrances of L'Atelier de Givenchy, we definitely won't leave out the couture beauty products of Givenchy.

The new additions to Le Makeup line for eyes?
Noir Couture Volume Mascara and Liner Couture.
The mascara provides the volume, high definition, long-lasting hold, as well as lash care with no clumps, that we depend on. The tube also makes one helluva statement as you can clearly see the details of studs and silver accents.
The Liner Couture has a felt tip that was inspired by Japanese calligraphy pens. One single stroke, wait a second and you're set to go with a 16/hr hold. Guaranteed!

The first and only Couture Lipstick - Givenchy Le Rouge - the world's only leather lipstick case. The leather is Lambskin. The same type of leather that Riccardo Tisci uses for their handbags. Le Rouge applies extremely smooth on to the lips keeping them plump and non-sticky with a long-lasting effect. Semi-matte formula that comes in 26 shades. The reds were favorites! Especially, the 307!

Le Soin Noir anti-aging skincare that contains black algae extracts. Actually, two algaes, black and gold. From deep under the ocean, algae has the ability to regenerate itself making it a powerful anti-aging ingredient, keeping it black to not bother with the black algae properties. And standing true to the Givenchy brand, the package is ultra chic!

Scented ribbons and buttons adorn the L'Atelier boutique linking back to spools of colorful silken threads linking back to the Couture inspiration behind this collection of fragrance.

Ildiko could clearly see my obsession and begins the tour with the seven fragrances of
L'Atelier de Givenchy

All seven fragrances are beautiful and unique in itself with each scent mimicking the Couture fabric it was inspired by. The seven fragrances are; Chypre Caresse ~ Evanescent romanticism, Ylang Austral ~ Structured exoticism, Néroli Original ~ Imperial icon, Cuir Blank ~ Absolute avant-garde, Bois Martial ~ Androgynous dandy, Ambre Tigré ~ Indocile feline, and Oud Flamboyant ~ Baroque slendour. Some more feminine than masculine, depending on when you check them out.

The Ladies showed samples of the Couture fabric that inspired this exclusive, luxury fragrance collection. When you smell the scent you immediately think Chiffon and Feathers. Delicate and timeless. Tweeds and Leathers. Soft Furs and everything Couture.

The sketches are signature Givenchy. We're talking 60 years of Heritage Givenchy. Some of the various looks are of both Hubert and Tisci.

A classic ethereal romanticism sketch that comes across in the fragrance. So, you can imagine putting on that dress and feeling that lightness on your skin when you smell the fragrance, Ildiko explains.

Another Couture sketch had a sample of white leather that was given to the perfumer as inspiration for the fragrance Cuir Blanc - the scent of white leather, white musk, and white pepper.

One sketch that Jessica shows is an ode to Givenchy. Very, Audrey Hepburn Princess-like Gown and another sketch was totally modern and edgy. So, again, it really does reflect the 60 years of the brand, of the Couture House.

I look over to the sketch of a structured suit that caught my eye… I then ask, would this be a more masculine scent? Pointing to the Bois Martial Fragrance - Androgynous Dandy. They both respond with yes but it's more androgynous - it's shared for both men and women. The coconut wood used in the fragrance kind of rounds out the masculinity you would normally smell with wooded scents due to its creamy nature. Think of the warmth of tweed and wool, it really comes across in the fragrance. Mmmm… She's right!

Another one that is also amazingly interesting - Ambre Tigré - it's like the feel of a beautiful fur on your skin. Feline and wild! Also, shared, there's a touch of sweetness as it has a little vanilla in it. However, the fragrance is still adorned by both men and women.

It's almost like you smell one fragrance and fall in love with it, then you smell the next one and you're in love all over again!

Here's a perfect example of the L'Atelier de Givenchy fragrance collection! As you can clearly see how they started with the Couture sketch, then the fabrics used for the Couture look and then placed it all into this gorgeous bottle with a silk thread tied around the bottle neck making this the ultimate Haute Couture fragrance of its kind.

"Fragrance gives rise to a Style, and from Style, Fragrance is born".

Chypre Caresse is feminine, pretty, very fluid with lemon, angelica root and patchouli.

Silly me asked about mixing the fragrances because I tend to do so from time to time. But the more I learned about the collection, why would anyone want to blend a scent that is already unique, special and so divine?

Based on my style of dress, I was then introduced to the fragrance of Ylang Austral. Inspired by urban gypsy, mixed kimono with a different bottom on the sketch, also inspired by travels and different countries. I get a whiff of the fragrance. OH MY GOSH!!!! A beautiful scent that you can practically wear with just about anything. Doesn't have to be on the feminine or tomboy side.

I LOVE THIS ONE!!!
I know I said it about the others but I absolutely love this one!
I drop a hint of it on my skin and it was a match made in paradise! Pineapple wood and Ylang Ylang!
I could not stop sniffing my wrist for the life of me. I wanted this fragrance! Feeling like a love triangle because I'm a faithful woman to one brands fragrance but ssshhhh… She'll never know… LOL!

As our tour/interview ended…

Guess who made the very first purchase of the exclusive L'Atelier de Givenchy fragrances at our favorite Neiman Marcus?!?!??

That's right!!!
The Haute Report could not fathom the idea of leaving without Ylang Austral!

The Couture Le Rouge Lipstick and Mascara also in the bag!!!

"Like Haute Couture dresses cut from the finest fabrics and adorned with the most delicate patterns, the fragrances in the collection are nobly yet freely architectured, structured by the richest raw materials. Rare flowers, precious woods, dazzling fruits and vibrant leathers compose" - the ultimate luxury of L'Atelier de Givenchy fragrances.

I could literally go on, and on, and on about the only Givenchy Beauty Boutique of its kind that now resides at Neiman Marcus Houston. But I don't want to spoil all the fun for you. HA!

All I'm trying to say is that the Holidays are near or without the Holidays…
Haute Couture fragrance on the shelf!

Casual Monday's Chic Street Flow…

Casual Monday's We Wear What We Want!

So, here's our Chic Street Flow!

Red Lips and Green with a little Black and White…

Blazer, Tank and Sheer Wide - leg Pants…
Oh! And Slip-On Sneaks!

Feeling breezy outside, wearing my Blazer as a Cape with these sheer black/white wide - leg pants that has a perfect flow in the wind…

To mix things up a bit, I went with Leopard calf hair slip-on Sneaks instead of heels to make it more Casually Chic…
Adding green just to give some type of color to the rumble…

The pants are a statement piece by itself. I tend to be playful with them a lot and jazz them down with either Sandals or Flats. But I've also paired with over-the-kneels boots when it's chilly out or even rocking tights under them.

Most of us like to wear our clothes more than once, so finding a statement piece that you can create many different looks with is a true winner!

Not wearing tights?
Just make sure the undies are right!
*wink* wink*  HA!

Outfit Details: Gray Tank - Forever21; Blazer - Max Mara; Wide-Leg Pants - American Apparel; Leopard Slip-On - Joie; Bag & Earrings - Something I picked up along the way... Hair - Always a bedhead

Let's Go Thrifting!!!

Thrift Shopping, anyone???

Today, I wanted to sleep in but it was $.25 day at this Thrift store clear across town. And, of course, on $.25 day, they're only open from 7a - 12p, so I had to set my alarm and get there! HA!

And for $.25, I got this huge bag of cute basics that I can mix/match into my wardrobe!

Style and Fashion isn't always about going to the mall for the latest gear… You never know what little haute treasures you can find thrifting.

Thrifting on the Go!

For a total of $2.75 here are The Haute Report Finds!!!

PINK Pajama Top that I plan on wearing as a shirt with either Trousers, Jeans or some really cute Leather pants and heels.

The mixed Paisley Top has a collar that will have Prince trying to pry it off you… LOL!

Another score was this blue button-down that has blue and white flowers down the seams of the shirt. I thought this would be cute as a layering piece or a cool Casual Monday…
Who knows?…

Basic finds that you can easily blend into your current wardrobe!

Navy Blue Pencil Skirt with pockets and back split. The working Woman always loves a good Pencil Skirt.

Navy Blue Trousers with a little wide-leg for the office!? Or just to be haute, rock with a Tee and a pair of pointy-toe heels and you're Chic Street!

The Blazer was indeed a Fab Find!!!

Can't wait to style this hautie on a Tomboy Glitch or just simply chic.

Three more basic, layering pieces that I could definitely use. Van Heusen, L.L. Bean and J.Jill all for just $.25 each!

Why not!?!??

The ultimate find was this Trench Coat!!!

Ooh la la!

This is exactly why I like to Thrift at times! Whether you're on a budget or not, thrifting can be haute!

I'll probably pair this Trench Coat with my Louboutins just because I can! HA!

Check it out!!!

And this is how I hopped up this morning to drive 45 minutes for a quick $2.75 retail therapy. I should have bought the store but we wanted to be fair…

All in all, I feel like I hit the lottery this morning! For the love of Fashion and having Style!

What do you think? Thrift or no Thrift?
Rock'em or Knock'em???

A Special Collection Of Chanel High Jewelry

A few days ago, The Haute Report was invited by Neiman Marcus to view A Special Collection of Chanel High Jewelry

When I first walked in the store, I was more than smittened by the Chanel Boutique that had been set up for the viewing. I know, only partially shown here, right? Maybe a different angle for the entire display… hmmm…
Moving along…

The White and Gold was definitely on point for the showing of the classical and timeless of the  Chanel High Jewelry Collections!

Can you say High Fashion and High Jewelry at its finest!?!??!

Even the mannequins on display were adorned with eyes of the famous "CC" logo in them for the luxurious collection.

Every inch of the Chanel Jewelry Boutique was jaw-dropping!

Viewings are available at Neiman Marcus Houston Galleria October 29th to November 8th, 10am to 5pm. So, from now until Saturday on Level Two.

All things fabulous at Neiman Marcus comes with some tasty horderves and cocktails. Which in turn means - Get up! Get dressed! And, let's get together over some Chanel!

The Boutique filled with Chanel lovers and their love of the timeless brand.
From the bags to the shoes, to the classic apparel and jewelry, the crowd definitely brought their Chanel A-game out!

Fun fact: In 1957, CoCo Chanel was awarded the Neiman Marcus Fashion Award. So there's really no surprise that Chanel always has an available room at Neiman's.

"As early as 1915, Harper's Bazaar raved over Chanel's design: "The woman who hasn't at least one Chanel is hopelessly out of fashion" - which is still true to this day.

For the first time, a rare chance to see this one-of-a-kind exhibit of 57 gorgeous pieces in diamonds and other marvelous stones at Neiman Marcus that are dedicated to the glamour of CoCo Chanel.
Some of the pieces on display are a direct reflection of Mademoiselle herself, and the jewelry she adorned.
Before, one could only imagine what her personal collection of jewels must have looked like in her apartment back in the 30's above the Couture House at 31 Rue de Cambon.
But I think we all got a good idea when Chanel raided her own jewelry vault and launched a House of Chanel jewelry line.

The beauty of extreme luxury, impeccably GORGEOUS!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!
Nothing I've ever witnessed before!
The white, black and yellow diamonds and pearls that even Elizabeth Taylor would probably die twice for! Need I say more???

Chanel de Haute Couture!!!

It's almost like when a lady gives up her costume jewelry and begins to invest in high jewelry that she can pass down the family tree for generations on in - Chanel may be at the top of her list… And I'm not speaking bucket list… Or am I? LOL!!!

What are your thoughts???
Ooh ahhh!!!
I could sit and ooh ahh all day over the collections but it won't be the same until I own a few pieces  myself HA! All in all, The Haute Report was floored, in complete awe! The only word I really used to describe the collections that night - BEAUTIFUL in the rarest form! Then again, how do you describe something that is sooo indescribable???

Shine bright like Chanel diamonds and pearls!
