However, I still had the luxury of sitting down and speaking with the wonderful Marc Chaya…

When Marc met Francis, 10 years ago… LOL!
He was more than intrigued and surprised to learn that Francis was the Man behind all those FANTASTIC "HIGH-END COUTURE FRAGRANCES"…
They became friends and some odd years later, co-founded what has been missing for nearly the last two centuries in the Perfumary Industry since Guerlain.
As a Businessman, Chaya saw the raw talent, the passion, the arts and craftsmanship that no other perfumer possessd and knew it would be the beginning of a game changer in the Fragrance Industry…
Now to date, Maison Francis Kurkdjian is a Luxury Boutique Fragrance House!!!
Ready to pick the mind of the Best-Selling Perfumer!?!!
We want to know where the Inspiration comes from, right?
It comes from life, art, people, places, and experiences, he says… Then, he proceeds to fill me in on the craftsmanship and art that goes into their perfumary and how pertinent it was to reestablish that perfume is indeed a true form of art. Marc says, "The names are very important and act as a frame of his creations and close to his soul"
Hmmm… So, if I'm following correctly, the fragrance Amyris was named after the resin derived from amyris (which I learned is a flowering Jamaican tree) and shared with iris, creating a sweet scent with an edgy twist.
I asked Marc, "Out of all your scents, what are your favorites?"
Marc says, he doesn't really have a "favorite" as there are at least 5 he adores out of the 18… Frangrance is a huge part of his wardrobe. Depends on what he's wearing and/or going… "I'm more of a one-night stand when it comes to fragrances"… of course! No Love Affairs there! LOL! (chuckles)
Are you now obsessed with fragrances?
"Yes, I love fragrances". Marc says, he loves the smell of fresh scents and powerful scents… Doesn't really matter the brand either…
Do you have a favorite scent outside of your line?
Marc, rarely wears fragrances outside of their Collection… And you know what? It makes total sense! His personality went hand-in-hand with the scent of Maison Francis Kurkdjian!!!
Can you tell what fragrances others are wearing when they walk by? Like, can you tell what fragrance I'm wearing?
"Yes, when they're wearing one of our fragrances"… Marc says outside of their Collection he may not always be able to identify the fragrance, as he leans forward in an attempt to guess the fragrance I'm wearing… "No, what's the fragrance?" he asked… "Chanel Christalle", I replied…
"Fragrance is a lifestyle." Marc says, 10 years ago he had no idea they would become the only independent Fragrance House through the luxury of dreams prize and passsions. "Fragrance is a part of your accessory"… Some find a scent and never change it whereas others may change their fragrance quite frequently depending on mood or whatever floats their boat.
But what's a wardrobe without Fragrance!?!!!
Absolutely!!! I had a GREAT time speaking with Marc! Of course, I'm silly and always looking to be adopted. But unfortunately, he isn't ready to adopt… LOL! HA!
We chuckled and laughed as he was easy-going, friendly, very down to earth, fun and a pleasure to speak with.
Marc also has great style!!! Check out his ensemble!!! You know I asked and the Man likes whatever feels good to him no matter the color coordination… LOVE IT!!!
I was also more than smittened when he complemented my little black osterich-like clutch from Forever21 that I was holding and even asking, do I mind if he could take a closer look… Of course, you can! HA!
After the interview, back at the counter as I drool and marvel over something ever so LOVELY!!!
An engraver was available to customize buyers purchases from the Maison Francis Kurkdjian Collection with complimentary bottle graving!!!
I believe I cried when I realized my business manager told me that I had already reached my spending cap for the week… (very sad face…) So, empty handed I was… LOL!
However, I will be back! Hopefully, there's some left! I definitely wouldn't mind being on the waiting list either! The chemistry I had with the fragrance was like meeting my soulmate! HA!
