Diva on a Dime Heartbreak

ATTENTION ALL DIVAS ON A DIME: Designer Discount Store Closing...

Let's have a moment of silence for one of my favorite Discount Stores in Houston - Loehmann's. I haven't been home in a while and there isn't one located in ATX, so I was kind of sad when going there this morning to find a 'Going Out of Business' sale. I guess we can call it a plus and a minus. YAY for sale! But NAY for Closing...

The store just looks a hot mess now with everything scattered (what I expect for going out of business) but I was still able to find a few items that were worthy. Although, I didn't make any purchases and I should have, but knowing myself, I'll be back. I mean this store was Perfect for a Label Whore on a budget. (Snickering)...

Just to give you an idea of the type of heartbreak we're dealing with here. There were lots of Designer brands such as; Theory, Vince Camuto, Rag & Bone, Michael Kors and so much more.

The bags and accessories were always a Great find and Buy! And like everything else in this store, it's mostly name brands.

I mean, I'm talking, WildFox, Buffalo, BCBG, Romeo & Juliet. You know, the kind of brands us regular folks like to dazzle in when the pocket is right.

You like Designer Jeans? No problem! You could always find Joe's, 7's for All Mankind, Hudson, J Brand and the list goes on and for under $100 too. Well, most of the time.

I'm going to count this as a sad day for us,  Divas on a Dime. I guess we still have our Marshalls/TJ Maxx, Off Saks 5th, and Neiman Marcus the Call but Loehmann's was Loehmann's and I'm going to miss buying Dolce & Gabbana Jeans for $100. (LOL!)

All I'm saying, if you have a Loehmann's in your City, check it out! It's been good to me and I'm sure to all the Fashionistas who knew about that little secret.

The Chronicles of Organizing My Closet... Part 1

Moving? Downsizing? Or just in need of Closet Organization? How about all the above... I'll admit it can become a huge project, a lot of planning, thinking and putting those creativity skills to test. However, the ending result can keep you on your game at all times with easy accessibility and visibility to your clothes and shoes. Let's face it no one really wants a cluttered closet, it's like shopping at ROSS or something. No Bueno! Can't even see what's on the racks.

To get started, I put everything in my closet that could fit, clothes, shoes, hangers, whatever "I think" will fit in it. Next, I'll break down my shoes, bins, bags, etc.. Then the real work of deciding what's worthy of being hung up, hit the dressers and storage. (I already donated my unwanted yesterday, if you can, don't forget to donate)

Once the planning is complete of who gets what and what goes where, execution begins.Color coding will be big and allowing enough space between each piece of clothing for real visibility (almost like a boutique if you would).

Usually, I would have a 2 bedroom to house all my clothes and shoes but this is a downsize project so be it. I also heard my niece and nephew whisper, as i was moving in, "she doesn't have enough room for her shoes and clothes". Well, watch this Lil Babies! Cuz i got this! Follow me as I show you how to reorganize a downsize closet.

Thursday on the Blues

Thursday's, mixed Blue vibes. I feel like money whenever I'm wearing Blue. It's my #1 favorite color, so I always feel like I'm that chick, when draped in blue. (Big Smirk)

You look your best when you feel your best! Wear colors that make you feel good and/or compliment your skin complexion.

A pencil skirt, polyester jacket, and a pair of Pumps that has nothing to do with the rest of your outfit, gives a little edgy vibe. This also works for the Corporate Woman who wants to stand out in the Office.

A closer look at the $8 skirt I got off the clearance rack from Target. People, DO NOT sleep on Target! There is nothing better than, grabbing a Starbucks Coffee, Cobb Salad and snagging a great deal on some of the cutest clothes, all at the same time.

You don't have to break the bank to stay at your best. You just need to be resourceful
in a Super Chic way.

Outfit Details:

Bomber - Maude from Langford's Market
Skirt - Merona (Target)
Pumps - BCBG
Watch - Michael Kors
Hair - My Crazy Afro

In Love with Boutiques

Tired of shopping in the Mall? Too crowded, can't find what you're looking for? Same here. Looking for unique, exclusive items to have in you're wardrobe? Well, let's ditch those Malls and head over to your local Boutique.

I absolutely LOVE a cute little boutique! They're usually small, intimate, personal and friendly.

I stumbled across this little beauty while cruising down 1st St, here in ATX. Never seen it before, so I stopped to give them a shot. The lady behind the counter was extremely nice. She gave me a little history on the store, we had a great conversation and she definitely gained a new customer.

All items that are sold at this Boutique are from local ATX Designers, which in my opinion puts this shop at the top of the list. Exclusive! Exclusive! Exclusive!

Found this Moto Leather Jacket for only $100 and like everything else in this store, it was made by a local ATX designer.
Super CUTE!!!

The accesories were just beautiful! A lot of unique pieces to be enjoyed.
And, yes, that's me back there in the mirror taking pics (LOL!)

The owner also designs jewelry pieces as well.  This entire case are the pieces they design. Just Lovely!

Now, I'm not saying boycott the malls altogether, too be honest, I can't live without Zara's, Saks, BCBG or Banana Republic (LOL!) However, there are a lot of times where you just want to be different. As CoCo Chanel once said, "to be be irreplaceable, one has to be different" or something like that.
(LOL! I can't even quote right HA!)

Tuesday, High Heels and Blazer

You ever wake up with your outfit already planned out for the day? But you never wear what you actually put out? Or you try on maybe 2 - 4 outfits before you can decide what's going to work?

Well, here's a simple solution; STOP THINKING! I do this all the time. I plan it in my head but when the time comes to get dressed, I'm like 'nah I want to be a fly bum today'.

For some reason, Styles that are just thrown together, with no real thought process behind them, are the best to me. You want Chic, Comfort, Swag (I hate that word) and all eyes on you? Jump out the box then! A Blazer with a boyfriend cut or just a baggy style jean, that blouse you would usually wear with slacks or an A line skirt, and of cousre, the Pumps! Mix hues with brighter colors, accessorize softly, make it about you.

Wait! Let me fix my Afro!

Just a little close up.

Now, I'm ready! Where we going?

Outfit Details:

Blazer - Ellen Tracy
Jeans - Boyfriend Levi's
Blouse - Anne Klein
Shoes - Steve Madden
Accessories - Knit Knacks
Hair - My Fro

Styled Down... 2014 Golden Globes

The 2014 Golden Globes are finally over and of course, Everyone is still talking about last night. I held out just a little longer to give my Worse and Best Dressed from the Night.
Now, here are my worst.

Mr. Terry Crews showed up in this Dark Blue fitted Tuxedo, which actually made him stand out from the usual Black Attire. So, I'll definitely applaud him for that. I love a man in a tailored suit, however, something about this look just doesn't do it for me. Could be the shoes, could be whatever he has bulging in his pocket but a great smile...

Zoe Saldana and Paula Patton, what can I say... My grandmother, always said, "if you don't have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all". Well, I've always been a hard-head that never listened.

Sure, a Prabal Gurung Dress is to die for! But, not this one, and definitely not for the Golden Globes Red Carpet. And the straps... Zoe!?!?! (blank stare)

Paula, huny, you simply do not have the body for this Dress. I hated this on her and I mean hated it! Stephane' Rolland, AWESOME Desinger but again, for Paula, HUGE NO GO! (IMO)

Gabby, Gabby, Gabby... Please fire your Stylist or hire one because something has to give. No more Michelinman! It's always, either a hit or miss with her and it seems like no one ever gets it, right. Gabby, next time, Melissa McCarthy may be able to assist you, because she looked GORGEOUS in the Gown she collaborated with a seamstress and Stylist on.

Last, but not least, The Star of Scandal. Olivia Pope did not bring it, as I expected. I may not be a fan of Scandal but I'm a fan of Kerry Washington on the Red Carpet. Pregnant or not, Balenciaga or not, this is the Golden Globes! Not a baby shower. Now, that Olivia Wilde is how a pregnant Star graces the Red Carpet at the Golden Globes. That Green Gucci Dress was Sparkling and Glowing, just like her.  I Love you, Kerry! But you missed it this time and I hated it.

Overall, there were a lot of Best and Worst Dressed last night but these are just my Top Picks for the evening.

What are some of your thoughts on last night's   Worst Dressed?
